History

For nearly 70 years, Wayne Westland Federal Credit Union has been serving the local community in one form or another. We first opened our doors in 1952 as the Kaiser-Frazer Employees Credit Union in Willow Run for workers at the short-lived automaker.

In 1954, we switched from being an employee credit union to a community-chartered one, changing our name to Wayne Community Federal Credit Union. Then, when Nankin Township officially became known as the City of Westland in 1974, we became what you now know and love – Wayne Westland Federal Credit Union.

From our humble beginnings of just 109 members and assets of $94,840, we have grown with our community and now have more than 11,000 members and $150 million in assets.
